I had carefully selected the pink lace accent, white lace, and pink satin for the Kaftan gown my daughter and I made for me to wear to a friend’s 70th birthday celebration I would be attending. The finished product was just as I had imagined. The evening of the party, I put on the elegantly flowing, soft pink satin dress and draped the white lace Kaftan accentuated with pink embroidered lace around the shoulders and sleeves. Then I complimented the outfit with gold jewelry and an ivory fascinator in my braided hair, and white wedged-heel slippers. I stepped out in confidence, feeling beautiful inside and out.
Imagine having a new outfit to wear and feeling confident and uplifted every day. How much greater it is to take God’s mercy and wear it, each day, with utmost confidence. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning.” What a refreshing thought! How great to explore the beauty He deposits in every new sunrise. How good to know his mercy shelters us from the troubles of the day so they won’t consume us.
We need not feel drained or overwhelmed by life’s pressures because God promises us new mercy each day to get us through whatever comes our way.
Reflect: What can you do to remind yourself of God’s mercy and faithfulness each day? How might that change your day?
