Powerlessness

Powerlessness

Today's Scripture:

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Philippians 2:13-15

Additional Scripture: Psalm 107:9

The word "powerlessness" may come off as negative. In fact, it also means vulnerability or weakness. But we are reminded that God gives us power when we confess that we are powerless to change ourselves. 2 Cori 12:9 says, "We boast all the more in our weakness so the power of Christ may rest upon us!"

In times when you are most vulnerable and exposed, do you turn to your own power or do you turn to Christ? What is your default setting (your go-to method)? We can grow through life's challenges when we give up our default knowledge for the wisdom of Christ. His daily deposits are necessary; they give us power to navigate every trial. Additionally, the touch of Christ allows us to heal and learn from our failures.

An empowered life means we do not have to live in defeat. When we allow the power of Christ to touch us, we do not just receive a quick fix; we experience change and improvement. This happens when we become patients of Jesus Christ, our Healer. Come under His care and trust in His timing.

Practice surrendering your ambitions to Jesus. Ask that He gives you a dose of His anointing today so you can live an empowered life through Him. Remember that in your own strength, the battles you fight will soon wear you out, but as you submit yourself to Christ in your weakness, He will strenghten you and direct your path.
