Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. — Deuteronomy 6:5

Click here to read this week’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:1-9

I used to think I was doing such an admirable job. I’d wake up early, read my Bible, complete a devotional, and say a prayer. I’d check all the spiritual boxes and get on with my day.

After a while, I realized that God wasn’t asking me for a morning ritual. He was calling me into relationship. Into wholehearted, soul-deep, strength-driven devotion. He doesn’t want bits of me squeezed into a time slot. He wants my whole heart, entire soul; my every iota of strength. That’s not a quiet-time checklist. That’s a lifestyle. A lifestyle that is cultivated with time, attention, and intention.

Deuteronomy 6:5 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” As I reflected on this scripture, it made me examine how much of myself I was giving to God in those once-a-day moments. I recognized the difference between a habit and a heart posture. One fills your schedule; the other fills your soul.

God wants all of us. Giving Him everything is about presence. I’ve felt the difference when I sit with Him, no rush, no script, just love. I’ve found that when I lean in with every part of me, heart, soul, and strength, something shifts. I’m not just doing devotionals. I am devoting.

It’s easy to mistake routine for relationship, but God desires more than a moment. He wants a mindset. Let’s not give God pieces. Let’s give Him everything.

Reflect: Is your devotion time just a routine? Or are you loving God, throughout your day, with all your heart, soul, and strength?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, let my daily walk with You not just reflect discipline, but deep devotion. Help me love You with everything I am.
